Questions, answered
Do I need a licence for a bareboat charter in Spain?
Yes. For a bareboat charter you need a recognised qualification such as the ICC (International Certificate of Competence) or an equivalent national licence, plus sailing experience appropriate to the yacht. No licence? Choose a skippered or fully crewed charter instead.
When is the sailing season in the Balearic Islands?
The main season runs April to October, with peak demand in July and August. During peak season, monohulls and catamarans run Saturday to Saturday. Spring and autumn offer quieter anchorages and excellent sailing conditions.
Which Balearic island should we choose for our charter?
Ibiza and Formentera are best for turquoise water and beach clubs; Mallorca offers the widest mix of coastline, harbours and the Cabrera national park; Minorca is the quietest, with a protected biosphere-reserve coastline. Many crews combine several islands in one itinerary.

How far in advance should we book a Balearic yacht charter?
For July and August departures, the best yachts are usually booked by March. Spring and autumn weeks can often be arranged at shorter notice.
