Why sail Ibiza
Ibiza has a reputation that arrives before the island does — but the Ibiza you meet from the water is a different place. Pine-covered headlands drop into calas of glass-clear turquoise, the west coast faces straight into some of the finest sunsets in the Mediterranean, and Formentera sits just across the strait like a private Caribbean. Distances are short, anchorages are plentiful, and the sailing suits everyone from first-time charterers to crews who want real miles in the log.
Our Ibiza fleet is based in Ibiza Town, where the marinas sit beneath the walls of Dalt Vila. From the pontoon it is under three hours' sail to Formentera, an easy day-hop up the north coast, and a comfortable overnight passage to Mallorca for crews who want to link the islands.

A week in Ibiza & Formentera
Our most-booked seven-day plan from Ibiza Town: head south round to Cala d’Hort for the Es Vedrà sunset on night one, then cross to Formentera for two nights between Espalmador and Ses Illetes. Work back up Ibiza’s west coast — Cala Vedella, Cala Bassa, the beach clubs of Sant Antoni if you want them — to the wild north coast, Portinatx and Cala Xarraca, before turning south down the east side to Santa Eulària and home. It is a loop that gives you every mood of the island without ever sailing more than four hours in a day.
Skippered and crewed charters follow the same shape but adapt daily to the wind and to you; bareboat crews get the full passage plan with anchorage notes and the fallback options for each day.
Practical notes
- Season: April to October. July and August are peak, and yachts run Saturday to Saturday. May, June and September are the sweet spot for quieter anchorages.
- Wind: Predominantly southerlies in summer, building in the afternoon and easing at dusk — gentle mornings, lively afternoon sails.
- Bareboat: An ICC or equivalent licence and appropriate experience. No licence? Choose a Local Skipper or a fully crewed Hidden Secrets charter.
- Getting here: Ibiza airport is 15 minutes from the marina. Formentera has no airport — which is exactly why it is worth sailing to.
