Ibiza, Formentera, and a skipper who knows both
Ibiza and Formentera are the Balearics’ most concentrated cruising ground: forty miles of coast, two islands, a hundred anchorages, and most of them within two hours of each other. That makes it the easiest place in the Mediterranean to have a good week with no experience at all — provided someone aboard knows which anchorages are on sand, which buoys need booking, and when the west coast turns untenable in the evening.
Our skippers work these waters all season. With one aboard, the route stays yours: Formentera for two nights or four, the Es Vedrà sunset on the way back, a night in Santa Eulària or at anchor in Cala Llonga. The skipper handles the boat, the passages, the posidonia rules and the marina bookings; you decide where to wake up.
Where our skippers start from
Three skippered weeks that work
These are starting points. Your skipper will adjust them to the forecast, your crew and how much sailing you want to do once you are out there.
Add a chef or a hostess
A skipper runs the boat. A chef and a hostess run the days. Either can be added to a skippered Ibiza charter, together or separately, provided the yacht has the berths for them. In Ibiza a hostess earns her keep on restaurant and beach-club bookings alone; a chef means lunch at anchor off Illetes rather than a two-hour wait ashore.
Practical notes
- Cost: The skipper’s fee is quoted separately from the yacht and charged per day, typically €180–250 in Ibiza.
- Berth: A skipper needs a bunk. On most catamarans that is a dedicated cabin; on smaller yachts, a saloon berth.
- Food: The charter party provides the skipper’s meals or a daily allowance. We confirm which when we quote.
- Posidonia: Anchoring on seagrass is prohibited and policed. Your skipper knows the sand and books the Formentera buoys.
- Season: July and August yachts are let Saturday to Saturday. From April to June and in September and October, shorter and mid-week skippered charters are common.
- Licence: None required for anyone in your party.
